TheConversation: Ritalin is the most common brand name for methylphenidate, a stimulant used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Pharmaceutical company Novartis owns the name Ritalin, but methylphenidate is marketed under other brand names by other manufacturers; such as Concerta which is produced by the company Janssen.

They report that the non-medical use of such drugs raises a host of safety and ethical concerns, including side effects and potential abuse, particularly from sourcing on the internet.
