Improve your brain: Electro-discovery, electro-treatment and electro-doping

Scimex: Can stimulating my brain make me smarter? A faster thinker? Better at maths…or computer games? Would it improve my memory? Can it cure my depression? Is it safe? Have you ever wanted to give your brain a boost? A new wave of research is looking into how brain stimulation technologies can help to treat, enhance, or understand our brains. While some of these non-invasive brain stimulation therapies have already been proven to work in treating conditions like depression, the evidence of their ability to cognitively enhance is still shaky.
This, however, has not stopped some "electro-doping" members of the public, who have already decided to test non-invasive brain stimulation out at home. Come join us at this briefing where our panellists will discuss the role non-invasive stimulation is playing in the global push to discover more about the brain, the technologies in the clinic, and the lab-to-lounge transition of one technology, whose safety and efficacy profile has yet to be worked out. We will also have a home user present who can answer questions about the personal use of this technology.
